What to know about home care in Adelaide

Adelaide has a distinctive market: most of the biggest home care names here — ACH Group, Resthaven, ECH, Helping Hand — are South Australian charities with 60 to 75-plus years of history, competing alongside national providers and self-management specialists. Directories list roughly 19 or more Support at Home providers for metro Adelaide, so competition is strong right across the metro area.

Several Adelaide providers also cover the Adelaide Hills and regional SA, which matters if you’re outside the tram-and-suburbs core — always confirm your specific suburb is genuinely staffed, not just “in the catchment”. And because providers set their own prices, it’s worth comparing at least two before signing a service agreement.

Common questions

Is this every Support at Home provider in Adelaide?

No — it’s a starting point, not an exhaustive list, and a listing here isn’t an endorsement or a ranking. Plenty of other registered providers service Adelaide. The full national register is searchable through My Aged Care (myagedcare.gov.au or 1800 200 422), and you’re free to choose any registered provider.

How is Home Care Help paid?

We may receive a fee from providers when we refer you to them. That never changes what we write, who we list, or the order providers appear in — and our help is always free to you, whether or not you choose a provider we introduce.

Does it cost more to use one provider over another?

It can. Providers set their own hourly prices, and the care management fee — capped at 10% of your quarterly budget — varies too. The government publishes national median prices each quarter (around $115 an hour for personal care, around $110 for cleaning) which are useful benchmarks. Ask each provider for their full price list before you sign; see our guide to hourly rates.
