Care management fees, compared: the league table
Last updated 20 August 2026
Every figure on this page comes from the named provider's published pricing, accessed August 2026. Providers can change prices at any time - always confirm current pricing with the provider before signing.
The short version
- Care management is capped at 10% of your quarterly budget for every registered provider - down from up to 20% under the old Home Care Packages.
- Because the percentage is the same everywhere, the real difference is the hourly rate each provider charges against that 10%. Published weekday rates run from $120 to $175 an hour - a lower rate buys you more care-management time for the same money.
- Care management counts as clinical care, so you make no contribution towards it - but it still comes out of your budget.
- Some well-known providers publish no pricing at all. That's worth knowing before you shortlist them - we name them below.
What care management is - and what the 10% buys
Care management is the coordination work behind your services: a care partner who reviews your care plan, adjusts services when your needs change, checks in on how things are going, and connects you with health professionals. Under Support at Home it is capped at 10% of your quarterly budget, and in practice most published price lists set aside the full 10%.
Here's what that looks like in dollars. On a Classification 5 budget of $10,182.38 a quarter, each percentage point is about $102 a quarter - so the full 10% allocation is about $1,018 a quarter. The provider then books care-management hours against that allocation at its published hourly rate, which is where providers genuinely differ:
- At $120 an hour (the lowest published weekday rate we found), roughly $1,018 buys about 8.5 hours of care management a quarter.
- At $150 an hour, about 6.8 hours.
- At $175 an hour (the highest published weekday rate we found), about 5.8 hours.
Same budget, same percentage - up to almost three hours' difference in coordination time each quarter. That's why the hourly rate column below matters more than the percentage.
Care management sits in the clinical care category, which is free for everyone - no means-tested contribution applies to it. You don't pay for it out of pocket; it's simply deducted from your quarterly budget before the rest is spent on services. More detail in our guide to the 10% care management fee.

Providers that don't publish - and why that's information too
A provider that publishes nothing isn't necessarily expensive, but you can't compare what you can't see, and you'll only learn its prices by asking for a quote. As at August 2026:
- Home Instead Australia - no national price list published; pricing is quote-only through local franchise offices.
- myHomecare - no accessible price list; the brand is being folded into Australian Unity, whose published pricing is the group reference.
- BlueCare - states that a flat 10% care management fee is set aside, but we could not access its rate schedule to verify hourly rates; ask BlueCare directly for its current pricing schedule.
- The CareSide - markets a combined 15% management fee (framed against old Home Care Package averages), but we could not access its current rate card to verify Support at Home rates.
- Mable - a platform, not a registered Support at Home provider, so care management isn't a fee it charges; it publishes a client platform fee of 7.95% of the agreed worker rate.
- Careseekers - a platform; its own pricing page was not accessible to us, and the only fee figures we found are from a secondary source (an NDIS Commission comparison from June 2023, which listed a 5% participant fee) - treat those as indicative only and confirm directly.
Prices change, and some of these lists carry effective dates (several took effect 1 July 2026). We verified every figure against published pricing in August 2026, but the only price that counts is the one in your service agreement - ask for the current full price list, in writing, before you sign.

Common questions
Is the 10% care management fee negotiable?
The 10% is a government cap, not a fixed charge - but in practice most published price lists set aside the full 10%. What you can compare and question is the hourly rate charged against it, and what you actually receive: how often your care partner reviews your plan, how quickly they respond, and whether the hours booked show up on your monthly statement.
Do I pay for care management out of my own pocket?
No. Care management is classified as clinical care, and clinical care carries no means-tested contribution for anyone. It's deducted from your quarterly budget rather than billed to you - which is exactly why the rate matters: it determines how much of your budget is left for services.
If every provider takes 10%, why compare at all?
Because the same 10% buys different amounts of coordination. At Classification 5, the difference between a $120/hr and a $175/hr care-management rate is nearly three hours of care-partner time each quarter. And the differences don't stop there - service loadings, third-party admin fees and hourly service rates all vary between providers too.
Was care management cheaper or dearer under Home Care Packages?
Under the old Home Care Package rules, care management could run up to 20% of a package - and separate package administration fees on top were common. Support at Home halved the cap to 10%, and monthly statements now have to show what you're charged. If you transitioned from a package, it's worth checking your first statements against your old fee schedule.
My provider isn't in this table. What should I ask them?
Three questions: What hourly rate do you charge for care management, and does it differ on weekends or for restorative care? Are there any service loadings or admin fees on top of hourly service prices? And can I have the current full price list in writing? A registered provider should answer all three without hesitation - monthly statements showing charges are mandatory.
