Right at Home vs Prestige Inhome Care: fees and models compared
Last updated 21 August 2026
Provider fees verified from published pricing, August 2026. Right at Home figures are from its Brisbane West franchise’s common pricing list - pricing varies by franchise office. Budget figures current as at 1 July 2026.
The short version
- Two private full-service providers that, unusually for the private end of the market, both publish price lists - so a real comparison is possible.
- One big caveat first: Right at Home is a franchise network, and every figure here is from its Brisbane West office’s “common pricing” list. Your local office may charge differently - always get its own list.
- On the published lists, Right at Home Brisbane West is cheaper for personal care ($111/hr vs Prestige’s $117.80), while Prestige is cheaper for cleaning ($100.30/hr vs $111).
- Coverage differs sharply: Right at Home is a national franchise network, office by office; Prestige is deliberately metro-focused - Melbourne, Geelong, the Mornington Peninsula, the Sunshine Coast and Sydney.

What the fee structures mean in practice
Here is one worked example at Classification 5, which has a quarterly budget of $10,182.38 in 2026-27. With both providers, the government’s 10% care management allocation comes off first: $1,018.24, leaving a service pool of $9,164.14 for the quarter. Care management is clinical care, so it costs you nothing personally.
Right at Home (Brisbane West)
- Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
- 10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
- Then
- No separate administration fee published - the pool goes to services at the office’s prices
- In hours
- ≈ 82 hrs/qtr of personal care at the Brisbane West common price of $111/hr - around 6 hours a week (your local office’s price may differ)
Prestige Inhome Care
- Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
- 10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
- Then
- No separate administration fee listed - the pool goes to services at published rates
- In hours
- ≈ 77 hrs/qtr of personal care at $117.80/hr - around 6 hours a week
At these rates the difference is modest - roughly five hours a quarter on personal care - and it flips for cleaning, where Prestige’s $100.30/hr undercuts Right at Home’s $111. If your roster is cleaning-heavy, Prestige’s list works out better; if it’s personal-care-heavy, the Brisbane West list does. Remember Prestige applies a 2-hour minimum to domestic services, which shapes how you book. Your own means-tested contribution then applies per service - see what you’ll pay.
Every figure on this page was verified from the providers’ published pricing in August 2026 - Right at Home’s from its Brisbane West franchise common pricing list, Prestige’s from its full price list PDF (published rates, undated, accessed August 2026). Providers adjust prices often, and the government publishes a quarterly National Summary of Support at Home Prices for benchmarking. Ask each provider - and for Right at Home, your specific local office - for its current price list in writing before signing a service agreement.
Which suits you?
Choose Right at Home if…
- You live outside Prestige’s metro service areas - Right at Home’s franchise network reaches far more of the country.
- Your local office’s prices come in at or below the Brisbane West list once you check - franchise pricing can work in your favour.
- Personal care is the bulk of your roster and the local rate is competitive.
Choose Prestige Inhome Care if…
- You live in one of its metro areas - Melbourne, Geelong, the Mornington Peninsula, the Sunshine Coast or Sydney - and want a premium, single-operator service rather than a franchise.
- Cleaning and domestic help are a big part of your plan ($100.30/hr, with a 2-hour minimum).
- You value one national price list that doesn’t depend on which office serves you.
Neither answer is “better” - geography will decide for many people, and where both operate, the winner depends on the mix of services in your week.

Common questions
Will my local Right at Home office charge the prices on this page?
Not necessarily. Right at Home publishes no national price list - each franchise office sets and publishes its own, and the figures here are the Brisbane West office’s “common prices” (the price most frequently charged over a two-month reporting period, which can differ from its standard list). Treat these numbers as a reference point and ask your local office for its own list in writing.
Does Prestige operate in regional areas?
Prestige is metro-focused: Melbourne, Geelong, the Mornington Peninsula, the Sunshine Coast and Sydney. If you live outside those areas, it likely can’t serve you, and a franchise network or a self-managed provider may be the practical path - see choosing a provider for how to shortlist by location.
Why are their care management rates different if the fee is fixed at 10%?
The 10% allocation is set by government and identical for every registered provider - see the care management fee, explained. What differs is the hourly rate each books against that allocation ($120/hr on the Brisbane West list, $150/hr standard at Prestige), which affects how many care-management hours your 10% buys, not what you pay - care management is clinical care and free to you.
Do either charge exit fees or minimums?
Exit fees are banned under Support at Home for every provider. Prestige publishes minimums - 2 hours for domestic services, 1 hour for nursing, 15 minutes for care management. Right at Home doesn’t publish minimums nationally, so ask your local office. And you can switch providers at any time if your choice doesn’t work out.
