Uniting NSW.ACT vs Anglicare Southern Queensland: which one operates where you live?

Last updated 21 August 2026

Provider fees verified from published pricing, August 2026 (Uniting price guide effective 1 August 2026; Anglicare Southern Queensland fees effective 1 July 2026). Budget figures current as at 1 July 2026.

The short version

  • Start with the map, not the fees: these two providers don’t operate in the same states. Uniting NSW.ACT serves New South Wales and the ACT; Anglicare Southern Queensland serves southern Queensland. For most people, where you live answers the question.
  • Watch the names carefully: “Anglicare” is not one national organisation. Anglicare Southern Queensland is a separate entity from Anglicare Sydney (whose home care arm is “Anglicare At Home” in NSW). If you’re in NSW comparing “Uniting vs Anglicare”, the Anglicare you mean is probably Anglicare Sydney - a different organisation from the one on this page.
  • Both are church-affiliated not-for-profits with clean, fully published price guides: personal care $115/hr (Uniting) vs $120/hr (Anglicare SQ); care management $157/hr vs $150/hr.
  • If you’re moving between NSW/ACT and southern Queensland - or choosing for a parent in the other state - the fee comparison below shows the two are closely matched.

First: which one serves your address?

Uniting NSW.ACT is the Uniting Church’s community services arm for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Anglicare Southern Queensland is an Anglican provider serving southern Queensland - Brisbane and surrounding regions. Neither operates in the other’s territory, so this is rarely an either-or choice in one suburb. Where the comparison earns its keep is for families spread across the border, people planning a move, and anyone who has seen the two names side by side and wondered whether they’re branches of the same thing. They aren’t - different churches, different organisations, different states.

One more disambiguation, because it catches people out: several independent Anglicare entities provide aged care around Australia. Anglicare Southern Queensland (this page) is distinct from Anglicare Sydney, which runs “Anglicare At Home” in NSW, and from Anglicare organisations in other states. Check the exact entity name on any service agreement before you sign.

What the fee structures mean in practice

Here is one worked example at Classification 5, which has a quarterly budget of $10,182.38 in 2026-27. With both providers, the government’s 10% care management allocation comes off first: $1,018.24, leaving a service pool of $9,164.14 for the quarter. Care management is clinical care, so it costs you nothing personally.

Uniting NSW.ACT

Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
Then
Full-service clients pay no general loading - the pool goes to services at published rates (self-managed clients add a 10% service fee)
In hours
≈ 79 hrs/qtr of personal care at $115/hr - around 6 hours a week

Anglicare Southern Queensland

Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
Then
No general loading - the pool goes to services at published rates (8% admin applies only to items like nursing consumables and indirect transport)
In hours
≈ 76 hrs/qtr of personal care at $120/hr - around 6 hours a week

The gap is small - about three hours a quarter at this level - and both personal care rates sit right around the national median of $115/hr. Uniting is a touch cheaper across personal care and cleaning; Anglicare SQ’s care management rate is lower ($150/hr vs $157/hr), which stretches the care-management hours inside the 10% allocation slightly further. Your own means-tested contribution then applies per service - see what you’ll pay.

  • You may want to self-manage: Uniting offers a self-managed option (with a 10% service fee on services).
  • Slightly lower personal care and cleaning rates, and a 6am-6pm standard window, fit your roster.

Choose Anglicare Southern Queensland if…

  • You live in southern Queensland - Uniting NSW.ACT doesn’t operate there.
  • You want a broad clinical team on one price list, including nursing assistants at $150/hr alongside RNs and ENs.
  • Its lower care management rate matters to you - more care-management time from the same 10% allocation.

Common questions

Is Anglicare Southern Queensland part of the same Anglicare as in NSW?

No. Several independent Anglicare organisations operate around Australia. Anglicare Southern Queensland serves southern Queensland; Anglicare Sydney runs “Anglicare At Home” in NSW; other states have their own entities. Their fees, coverage and services all differ, so always check the exact entity name on the price list and service agreement you’re given.

Does Uniting operate outside NSW and the ACT?

Uniting NSW.ACT - the entity on this page - serves NSW and the ACT. The Uniting Church has separate community services organisations in other states under related names. The pricing here (from the price guide effective 1 August 2026) applies to Uniting NSW.ACT only.

I’m moving from Sydney to Brisbane. Does my funding move with me?

Yes - your Support at Home classification and budget are national and travel with you; you’d simply sign with a provider in your new area, and unspent funds follow you. Anglicare Southern Queensland could be a candidate in Brisbane, just as Uniting is in Sydney. See switching providers for how the handover works, and the waitlist picture in each state at NSW and Queensland.

Do either charge exit fees or minimum visits?

Exit fees are banned under Support at Home for every provider. Uniting publishes a 60-minute minimum visit (excluding medication assistance and telehealth) and asks for 24 hours’ cancellation notice; Anglicare Southern Queensland doesn’t publish a minimum visit length as at August 2026, so confirm it in writing before signing.
