Home care providers in Northern Territory

Last updated 20 August 2026

The Northern Territory is Australia’s smallest home care market - just 1,640 people were receiving Support at Home at 31 March 2026 - and the place where your address matters most. Darwin is our covered city below; wherever you are in the Territory, we can help you work out what’s available.

Cities we cover

Open the Darwin page to see the providers we’ve verified as servicing the area - what they offer, where they cover, and any pricing they publish.

Home care in the NT: the 2026 picture

The Territory’s largest aged care provider is ARRCS (Australian Regional and Remote Community Services), which spans Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and remote communities. Alongside it in Darwin sit organisations like Anglicare NT and a handful of national and franchise operators. It’s a small market, so checking real availability before you commit time to phone calls matters more here than anywhere else.

Outside Darwin, Palmerston and Alice Springs, mainstream Support at Home providers barely operate. Remote communities are generally served through flexible aged care programs - including the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program - and community-controlled organisations, and My Aged Care runs dedicated pathways for people in rural and remote areas. It’s also worth knowing that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access aged care from age 50.

Reported waiting times for the NT sit around the national median, but the numbers are small enough that they vary a lot from town to town - treat any single figure cautiously. Travel costs are the Territory’s big pricing reality: providers set their own prices, and remote servicing can carry substantial travel charges, which must be set out in your service agreement. For free, independent advocacy, OPAN (1800 700 600) connects Territorians to its NT member organisations.

Outside Darwin?

Our Darwin page covers the Top End metro area. If you’re in Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek or a remote community, services look different - often grant-funded or community-controlled rather than listed on a provider directory. Tell us your town or community and we’ll help you work out what’s genuinely available, free.

Common questions

I live in a remote community - how do I get help at home?

Remote NT communities are usually served by flexible aged care services and community-controlled organisations rather than mainstream Support at Home providers, and My Aged Care (1800 200 422) has dedicated support for people in rural and remote areas. We can also help you work out which services operate where you live.

What about Alice Springs?

We don’t yet have a dedicated Alice Springs page, but ARRCS and other organisations do operate there. Tell us what help you need and we’ll check what’s genuinely available in Alice Springs, free.

Are these all the home care providers in the NT?

No. We list providers we’ve verified as registered for Support at Home and genuinely servicing Darwin - our directory grows as we confirm more. The full national register is always searchable through My Aged Care (myagedcare.gov.au or 1800 200 422).
