Home care providers in Tasmania

Last updated 20 August 2026

Tasmania is a small market - 8,088 people were receiving Support at Home at 31 March 2026 - that really works as three regional markets: the South around Hobart, the North around Launceston, and the North-West around Burnie and Devonport. We cover Hobart and Launceston below, and can help wherever you are in the state.

Open a city page to see the providers we’ve verified as servicing that area - what they offer, where they cover, and any pricing they publish.

Home care in Tasmania: the 2026 picture

Tasmanian home care is organised around the state’s three population centres, and providers tend to structure themselves the same way - Uniting AgeWell, for example, runs separate South, North and North-West home care services. Alongside it sit Tasmanian community organisations like The District Nurses and Community Based Support, so the choice in Hobart and Launceston is more local in character than in mainland capitals.

Outside the three centres, markets are thin everywhere - the west coast, Central Highlands and east coast have few providers, and the Bass Strait islands rely on single local operators. Travel charges are significant given Tasmania’s dispersed small towns, and any charge must be set out in your service agreement. On waiting times, the government’s first wait-times report (covering November 2025 to March 2026) put the Tasmanian median at around 302 days from application to services starting, against a national median of 294. For free, independent support, Advocacy Tasmania is the state’s member of the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN, 1800 700 600).

Providers you’ll see in both Tasmanian cities

Uniting AgeWell appears on both our Hobart and Launceston pages, through its separate southern and northern home care services. Most other listed providers are anchored to one region - each city page shows who covers what. If you’re in the North-West around Burnie or Devonport, or anywhere else we don’t yet cover, tell us your town and we’ll check who genuinely services it, free.
