Trilogy Care vs HomeMade: fees and models compared
Last updated 20 August 2026
Provider fees verified from published pricing, August 2026. Budget figures current as at 1 July 2026.
The short version
- These are the two most-searched self-managed Support at Home brands, and their fee shapes are almost identical: the government's 10% care management allocation plus a 10% loading on services - about 20% of budget going to management overall.
- The practical difference is rate transparency: Trilogy Care publishes a full rate card (personal care $72/hr, cleaning $66/hr); HomeMade does not publish hourly rates on its pricing page.
- Ownership differs: Trilogy Care is a private, Brisbane-based company; HomeMade is a subsidiary of Mable Technologies, the support-worker marketplace.
- Both offer a step up in support if self-managing gets too much: Trilogy an optional “fully coordinated” tier, HomeMade a “fully managed” option.
Side by side
| Trilogy Care | HomeMade | |
|---|---|---|
| Model | Self-managed | Self-managed (fully managed option added) |
| Ownership | Private (Brisbane-based) | Private (subsidiary of Mable Technologies) |
| Care management fee | 10% of quarterly budget (the government-set cap that applies to all registered providers); care management listed at $120/hr within that allocation | Self-managed: 10% care management allocation plus 10% service loading - described on its pricing page as “HomeMade fees: 20%”. Fully managed: 10% care management fee, with “cheaper set rates” for services |
| Other admin / loading fees | 10% service loading, “added only when you use a service” (a $60/hr gardener becomes $66/hr). Optional full coordination adds 20% to service pricing before the loading | 10% service loading on services received through HomeMade (self-managed option) |
| Personal care, weekday | $72/hr (self-managed rate) | Not published |
| Cleaning, weekday | $66/hr (general house cleaning, self-managed rate) | Not published |

| Distinctive features | Publishes a full rate card (RN clinical care $132/hr); no loading charged if no visit is booked; fully coordinated tier (personal care $106/hr, RN $172/hr) | Built on the Mable marketplace; fully managed option with set rates in a separate pricing list (available on request); as at Aug 2026 advertises a contribution offer for full pensioners - check the details and conditions directly |
“Not published” means the figure does not appear on the provider’s published pricing pages as at August 2026. Ask for any missing figure in writing before you sign - HomeMade’s fully managed rates sit in a separate pricing list you can request.
What the fee structures mean in practice
Here is one worked example at Classification 5, which has a quarterly budget of $10,182.38 in 2026-27. With both providers, the government’s 10% care management allocation comes off first: $1,018.24, leaving a service pool of $9,164.14 for the quarter. Care management is clinical care, so it costs you nothing personally.
Trilogy Care
- Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
- 10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
- Then
- 10% loading applies when you use a service, so roughly $8,331 of worker charges fit in the pool
- In hours
- ≈ 127 hrs/qtr of personal care at Trilogy’s published $72/hr self-managed rate - around 9-10 hours a week
HomeMade
- Classification 5 · $10,182.38/qtr
- 10% care management = $1,018.24, leaving $9,164.14
- Then
- 10% service loading on services received through HomeMade - again roughly $8,331 of worker charges fit in the pool
- In hours
- Depends on agreed rates - HomeMade doesn’t publish hourly rates, so hours turn on what your chosen workers charge
On paper, the two structures cost the same: about $1,018 to care management and about $833 in loadings per quarter at this level, whoever you choose. What actually decides your hours is the worker’s rate underneath. Trilogy publishes its self-managed rates up front (and gives a worked loading example - a $60/hr gardener billed at $66); with HomeMade, you agree rates with providers on its network, so get quotes before comparing. Your own means-tested contribution then applies per service, the same way with either provider - see what you’ll pay.
Every figure on this page was verified from Trilogy Care’s and HomeMade’s published pricing in August 2026. Providers adjust prices often, and the government publishes a quarterly National Summary of Support at Home Prices for benchmarking. Ask each provider for its current price list in writing before signing a service agreement.
Which suits you?
Choose Trilogy Care if…
- You want every rate published before you make first contact, so you can do the maths yourself.
- You like the idea of sourcing trusted local workers at local rates, with no loading charged in weeks where nothing is booked.
- You may want to step up later to the fully coordinated tier without changing provider.
Choose HomeMade if…
- You plan to find workers through the Mable marketplace - HomeMade is Mable’s registered-provider arm, so the two are built to work together.
- You want a large national network of service providers to draw on (HomeMade cites more than 3,500).
- You’re weighing a fully managed option with set rates, and you’re happy to request the pricing list to compare.
Neither answer is “better” - the fee structures are close to identical, so the choice comes down to how you want to find workers and how much published detail you want up front.

Common questions
Aren’t the fees exactly the same? Why compare?
The headline shape is the same - a 10% care management allocation plus a 10% service loading. But the service rates underneath differ, and that’s where most of your budget goes. Trilogy publishes its rates ($72/hr personal care, $66/hr cleaning); HomeMade’s depend on what you agree with workers on its network. The cheaper option for you depends entirely on those underlying rates.
Does the 10% care management fee differ between providers?
The 10% allocation itself is set by government and applies to all registered providers - see the care management fee, explained. Providers differ in the hourly rate they book against it (Trilogy lists $120/hr) and in what you get for it. Compare rates across providers on our care management fees comparison.
What if self-managing becomes too much work?
Both providers offer a step up. Trilogy’s optional full coordination adds 20% to service pricing before the 10% loading (personal care becomes $106/hr). HomeMade offers a fully managed option with a 10% care management fee and set service rates. You can also switch providers at any time - exit fees are banned under Support at Home.
Do either charge exit fees or minimum hours?
Exit fees are banned under Support at Home for every provider. Neither Trilogy nor HomeMade publishes a minimum visit length as at August 2026 - ask each to confirm minimums, cancellation notice and any equipment arrangements in writing before signing.
