Home care providers in New South Wales
Last updated 20 August 2026
New South Wales is Australia’s largest home care market - 119,138 people were receiving Support at Home here at 31 March 2026, around a third of the national total. We cover the state’s main population centres below, and if you’re somewhere else in NSW we can still help you find providers who genuinely cover your area.

Home care in NSW: the 2026 picture
NSW is home base for several of the country’s biggest home care organisations, and the market is comparatively deep in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and on the Central Coast - in these areas the question is rarely whether a provider covers you, but which one suits you and can start soonest. Consolidation has been the story at the top of the market: Australian Unity’s acquisition of the myHomecare Group made it the clear number one provider nationally, and the March 2026 merger of the BaptistCare organisations created a single national brand headquartered in NSW.
Regional NSW is more mixed. Coastal and inland regional centres - the Northern Rivers, Coffs Harbour, the Riverina - are reasonably served, but western and far-west NSW are thin markets with few providers and long travel distances. Because providers currently set their own prices, regional providers commonly add per-kilometre or travel-time charges; any such charge must be set out in your service agreement, so ask before you sign.
On waiting times, the government’s first wait-times report (covering November 2025 to March 2026) put the NSW median at around 300 days from application to services starting - close to the national median of 294 days. If you’d like free, independent support while you navigate the system, the Seniors Rights Service is the NSW member of the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN, 1800 700 600).
Providers you’ll see in more than one NSW city
A few providers appear on several of our NSW city pages, which can matter if you split time between areas or want a provider your family already knows: HammondCare at Home (Sydney and Coffs Harbour), Five Good Friends (Sydney and the Central Coast), The CareSide (Newcastle and Wollongong), Let’s Get Care (Central Coast and Coffs Harbour) and Home Caring (Wollongong and Coffs Harbour). Each city page lists the local branch and what it offers.

Common questions
Are these all the home care providers in NSW?
No. We list providers we’ve verified as registered for Support at Home and genuinely servicing each city - our directory grows as we confirm more. Nationally there were around 950 approved Support at Home providers at 31 March 2026, and the full register is always searchable through My Aged Care (myagedcare.gov.au or 1800 200 422).
I live in regional or western NSW - can you still help?
Yes. Coverage thins out west of the ranges and providers there often add travel or per-kilometre charges, so it pays to check who genuinely services your town before you spend time calling around. Tell us where you are and we’ll do that checking for you, free.
How long will I wait for Support at Home in NSW?
The first government wait-times report put the NSW median at around 300 days from application to services starting, though your priority category makes a big difference - urgent cases move much faster. Our guides on the waitlist and what you can do while you wait explain your options.
